The picture shows it in cut out form, the product does seem to be a useful way of allowing insulation to co-exist with down lights.

First time I've seen the product

Not sure where the wiring for the fitting is :D

It's cheaper than I thought it might be. Not a bad option.

Ridiculous idea, unless tacking some plasterboard to a few bits of batten is beyond your capabilities

Sorry but a dumb question coming here.

I will soon be putting extra insulation in my loft, the current insulation has gaps in for the down lighters.

The new insulation will make it hard to continue to keep this space clear.

If I were to use a product like above or make my own, would it be ok to cover the product completely therefore creating a void under the insulation or does the light still need to have a way of breathing to allow heat out?

Thanks
Paul

Constructive.........

Go on take a picture of your hand made plasterboard box and lets compare which looks better, is metal skinned, has some breather vents, will sail through a LABC or client snagging inspection and costs £7, which equates to 15 minutes of charged time.

OK I'm sure your box can be constructed in under that, then there's the hassle of having sheet of plasterboard on the van, and some baton.

Isn't baton a fire potential material ?
