So my potterton 155x seems to be nearing the end of its life and thus needs to be replaced. Things are tight just now and would like to get a boiler on finance. Please advise on companies I should look to for fitting etc and what I should replace with - i.e. Gas or electric? Apparently my flue fitting is going to be an issue?
Also anyone dealt with the online boiler company?

If you buy the boiler on finance, especially from one of the companies which claims to include this, that and the other, then you will pay through the nose for it and struggle to get the 'this, that and the other'. Read my thread beginning with '24/7'. If you must have now, borrow from the bank, on your mortgage or etc..

As above, you're better off getting a personal loan as rates are low and paying for it that way.

As it's a Powermax It's likely to be installed on twin flue in the middle of the house. Can it be resited to an outside wall?

If it’s working as it should for now, you could save up? Not sure on companies like Boxt, but I would obtain independent quotes and recommendations from them.
Do you know if we can get parts for these boilers?? Will try boxt actually

Parts are still available for Powermaxes, yes. What makes you think it's nearing the end of its life, apart from being old?

Ito be honest I thought because of age, and because the heating engineer said its hard to get hold of parts. If this isn't the case then Im in no hurry to replace the boiler at all.

The fan works intermittently so think I should just purchase the fan and get it replaced by a specialist then?

These boilers do need specialist care by engineers who are familiar with them, but they can be kept running and most spares are readily available. The thing that really knackers them is that the flues tend to rot out eventually, and if that happens then it's new boiler time as the flue is no longer available. They accidentally made the first condensing boiler but didn't know it, so there was no method of condensate disposal

That same thing happened on the big flue at St Thomas's.

So waiting for engineer to come along and fit fan, but in the meantime Ive been recommended a Keston boiler. Any ideas on this?

It's an Ideal Logic with an adapter kit to take the Keston twin flue system. Doesn't get over the standard flue installation requirements which apply to all boilers
