Hello everyone!

We have installed a doorbell in the centre of our door. The actual button mechanism is fake-old-style and the cables out the back come through a hole in the middle of the door and connect to a modern wireless doorbell broadcast device on the inside. Here's a link to a picture:

We need to find some way of covering this device, which is about 3 inches long, with a white or brass box of some sort. But we're not sure where to get something that generic.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how we can make this look nice?

thanks,

What about routing out a cavity in the door to mount that box inside and then putting a socket blank over such as this:

Would cover the hole as well then.

You can get small wooden boxes from craft shops and discount bookshops (intended for covering with shells etc). Fix it to the door with small hinges (which may be included if the box has a hinged lid) and paint.

You can also get little wooden cabinets for hanging keys in, which might look appropriate hung on the back of a door, eg

Extend the wires and put the transmitter elsewhere out of sight.
Or get a proper wired doorbell and forget about the wireless shenanigans.

Can't see the photo, but from the description the bellpush is on the door, not the frame, so it could be tricky to have wires trailing off somewhere...

A white plastic twin socket box (35mm) with a two way flat plastic blanking plate will do the job nicely - paint it to match the decor - and lets the wireless signal through.

Or just a single box, as was suggested in post #2, albeit with the plan of sinking it into the door

Surely if you put the case on the bell push transmitter it'll look a helluvalot better???

Then, hmm, maybe mount the bell push transmitter over the big ass ugly hole you've made in the door, therefore hiding it?

I don't know how I think em up.
