Hi all.

Fitting a new bath as old one is dirty/grubby and has chipped corner.

I've looked at ones in BQ/Wickes and Selco and was shocked by the quality of them!!!
Very thing and the waste holes were awful!
You would need a tube of silicone and hope for a decent seal!
They are nothing like the one I'm replacing that was cheap
Back in its day but much better quality.

I'm looking at this as it has some description saying it's better than others and it on offer.

I also have a good quality McAlpine waste/overflow but in the past I've seen the overflow holes on baths differ to the fitting itself.

This is the overflow I have -

Any advice guys?

Plus after watching a few video why does everyone ditch the the thin white foam seal that goes on first/inside the bath (or basin/sink) and just use a load of decent sealant.

Thanks in advance.

Bath looks decent enough, the McAlpine waste is also good.

Some use silicone on everything, best use it sparingly, if at all, on things like this.

How do I know the McAlpine waste overflow hole fits the bath listed?
I have read with a decent bath and one of the best McAlpine wastes/overflows silicone is not needed.

But in every video they ditch the thin white foam 'seal' and use silicone??

Cheers mate.
