New Boiler Install-Advice Needed Please

hi all
i have a conventional boiler now(Glow warm) which has been good for the past 7 years but started giving me problems.
in short i think its about time to replace as its about 13 years now.

i am going for a combi so i can claim the the airing cupboard back and get rid of the water tank in the loft and cylinder.

my heating engineer recommends either a Main or Heat-someting-sorry as i cant remember the second manufacturers name, but starts with heat...
the engineer said vailants/worcesters are quite expensive. the Main and other boiler he recommends are quite simple boilers and reliable.

can someone please give a second opinion on the above?

also please give me an idea of how much it should cost me to install the new main/other combi boiler(move from upstairs to downstairs) and remove all the water tank/cylinder etc that i currently have.

main & heatline are both cheap boilers, good realiable boilers don't come cheap

I disagree, they aren't bad boilers if they're installed well.
Heatline parts are a rip off though.

they are still a cheap boiler along with biasi, which is why landlords love them

If you do install a budget boiler, you have to aware that if it breaks down, the parts are generally far more expensive.
Of all those boilers, a Main would be my choice, because it's basically a budget Baxi. If you're paying for a new boiler, why not spend another £200-300 and get a decent one with a good warranty?
And as already said, a badly installed boiler on a dirty system will lead to early failure, no matter what the make.
And how much have you been quoted?

been quoted around£00 for a straight swap but moving boiler into loft with vertical flu

if the boiler was moved downstairs ie combi with all water tanks etc removed, then am looking at about £00 and these are for the heatline or Main boilers.

That sounds awfully cheap for those jobs, saying that heatline and main boilers are cheap, fitted a couple of main combis and they are very similar to older baxi range, only get about a years warranty though!

You'd be aswell getting a better boiler with longer warranty,for example glowworm flexicom comes with 5 years warranty as standard.

You will never get quality and cheap into the same scenario, you get what you pay for

Yes, those prices do sound very cheap if they include the boiler/flue etc.

what will be a normal price if this is too cheap? i guess its cheap because of the boilers recommended ie main or heatline? or is the quote even too cheap for a these cheap boilers?

i will be getting quotes for installing Worcester or glow warm as i currently have glow warm. am leaning towards worcester though as it seems everyone recommends them.

what model (both worcester and glow warm)will you guys recommend for a 3 bed house with 11 radiators

They're cheap now you've edited them to £00
You don't have to buy Worcester Bosch to get a decent boiler with warranty. I wouldn't be fitting a heatline though. And I wouldn't be sticking any boiler on a dirty system, it can invalidate any warranty given with the boiler.

ha ha yes deliberately as i wanted members to concentrate on the advice and not the quote.
i am considering glow warn now as i have had the current one for the past 7 years with no issues. it just start given me [problems in the past week or so and was installed in 2000.

i hear biasi's are also not bad, which the engineer also mentioned as an alternative.

If you must have a cheap boiler then the Biasi M269 is a very good choice at about £500.

It is based on the tried M96 and has a modified recouperater to make it reach the efficiency of the band A.

The big advantage is that it uses a conventional burner which is much more stable and does not need specialised equipment to set it up.

Use any other Biasi model ( apart from the M110 ) at your own risk. This advice is specific to the M269 model.

putting the cheap boiler aside , what will your recommendation if i wasnt going for a cheap one.

might be a good idea to come up with a bit more cash to get a good quality boiler. 3 bed house with 11 radiators.
