The daily flail has gone into full anti woke mode over this:

"Cambridge Dictionary accused of kowtowing to 'woke activists' after updating definition of 'woman' to include anyone who 'identifies as female'"

Can a man ever be a woman?

In other news (closer to home) the definition of male has been updated to include those with a different sex at birth

Blup

A person who wants to be a woman but was born in a mans body is indeed a woman.
biologically a man.

I dont know what all the fuss is about

97% of people are so called "cisgender". A very small %age of the remaining 3% want to create labels like "Cisgender".

The OED hasn't joined in the wokeycokey dance yet, so Cambridge dictionary just loses credibility.

We're not far away from total nonsense which will be used by criminals to get away.
"I identify as God, so I can take anyone's life"
"I identify as a child, so I cannot be prosecuted"
"I identify as a celebrity, so I must be provided with a police escort" (Sadiq Khant actually did this and got away with it)
"I identify as a tooth fairy, so I can take your teeth"
Etc., etc., etc.

In my books there is male, female and transgender.
You cannot be born male then declare you are female after a sex change. But you should be allowed to call yourself transgender.
I know there is another term, hermaphrodite, where someone can be born with both sets of organs but these people tend to select which gender they want to be and receive the appropriate treatment. To the best of my knowledge, they continue to live their life quite happily with their chosen path. (I have known 2 of these people and they are/were very happy with their choice).

I don't necessarily say this with any pride, however much of this LGBTQ stuff I just can't be comfortable with. Yes I get if you're born into a male or female body and genuinely feel you're in the wrong body, there should of course be processes and procedures for you to address this. However much of the stuff between just gets my hackles up.

I take my proverbial hat off to folk like JK Rowling for digging their heels in re their beliefs, however it's becoming increasingly more challenging for anyone to speak against the woke tide.

I also get that it's maybe a generational thing at least to some extent. I'm 50 and I'm sure many younger folk would just think 'what's your problem grandad, get with the program!'

If I was gay or lesbian then I'd be quite offended at the attention seekers they now seem to have become grouped with. I've lost track of how many letters the latest acronym has or what they are all supposed to mean.

Drag queens are the latest to have decided that they're some kind of oppressed minority. One local council was paying a bunch of them to teach kids all about their world, including twerking lessons according to the BBC.

Panto dames will be next to demand their rights.

We care because women are being exposed to men who are trying to take their rights away buy putting on a frock and declaring themselves women. Even the most vunerable women in women only prisons are exposed to men in the name of inclusivity.

If a man tried to do this there would be outrage but declare yourself a women and then they are celebrated for it.

The safety of women (the biological females) , ie half the population must not be compromised for the tiny minority of transexuals who identify as women

There must be an acceptance that inclusivity can not extend into areas where there could be a compromise like prisons, hospitals etc
