New Desktop PC

Maybe too late but I find pcspecialist good. You decide on the spec and they build it for you. They'll advise you if you get anything drastically wrong so it's hard to not get it right. I've had two machines for the kids over the last 7 or 8 years and two work machines - the latest being in the last month. i7 4820 with GTX750 Ti card and 16gb hyper-x fury memory. The best price I could get for a similar spec anywhere was around the £2k mark but PC specialist was £1224 including the VAT. I find the service very good and some of the lower end machines don't look bad for the money.

Thanks.

They look a great company. I have a budget and unfortunately I can't budge it!

So I shall be sticking with my original choice.

Could I ask for an opinion on these monitors, please?

The monitor will be running off this system ( http://www.ebuyer.com/634853-zoostorm-gaming-desktop-pc-7260-5000 )with an nVidia GTX750 1GB Graphics card.

I appreciate your input, whether it be D sub, DVI or HDMI... ;)

Thanks guys.

I can't say you would notice any difference between them, they all have quick response times, same resolutions, meh.

If in doubt, pop in to PC world and browse the monitors, then you can see some on display and judge the difference (if any).

Thanks, AS, you're a star.

I've searched that many on line this weekend I've got monitor overload...

I guess it's worth going for as large a size as possible?

I have seen some decent 24" monitors, but think 27" is a better size.

Personal preference really.

Unless the bigger monitor has a higher resolution, it won't make any functional difference, though bigger "feels" better.

You can get better monitors but they really do cost. Dell's older 24" model (U2412HM) is a bargain at £200, but smaller and out of your budget.

I don't think I'd bother with a 27" at 1920x1080, personally. Also personally, I wouldn't bother with 1920x1080. Stupid resolution, it's a monitor, not a TV.

Realistically, if you don't spoil yourself with expensive monitors, you won't miss them. ;)

But don't buy from them!

Ha, ha, JB!

Thanks, AS & Monkeh.

M, I know I don't have a super-duper spec. either for the PC or the monitor, as budget does not allow, but what would you buy for around the £150 mark, aside from Dell?

Ey up! Careful now lad.

I spent some years growing up in Yorkshire, tha' nos!

I take it there's no such thing (at any price) as a 27" monitor with 1920 x 1200 res?

Just being greedy, ain't I?

From Googling the forums, I think there used to be a couple available Stateside, but not anymore. ;)

I can't seem to find the HM model Dell, only the M suffix. Looks good, though. Maybe see if we can stretch the budget with some birthday money from grandparents.

That 1200 AOC looks a fine choice in any case.

Thank you for your hard work.
