I just got a new kitchen mixer tap fitted by a plumber a couple of weeks ago.
I asked him to fit it as it's really tight and awkward trying to get access under the sink.

Since then it spurts out about a tablespoon worth of water in one fast motion every so often. Possibly just once within an hour of it last being used.

Is this likely to be a fault with the tap or possibly a problem from installation?

I noticed that the hot water tap handle (on the left in the photo) doesnt seem to align in the same position as the cold water tap when switched off.
Could this be an issue?

Is it worth paying for this to be reinstalled with a replacement tap, or is it fine to live with it assuming it doesnt get much worse over time?

If left, is it likely to get worse and if so, how bad?

The same plumber is coming back to do some other work including fixing a leaking hot water isolator valve feeding the same tap. Could this be related to the issue above?

This is the tap bought from B&Q (DIY.com)

Any advice appreciated on this.

The spurting is pretty common with dual flow spouts. A little water sits trapped in the spout after you shut off, and as it warms the expanding air pushes a slug of it out in one go. I would not call it a fault, it is fine to live with and it should not get worse. Have the plumber check the aerator for grit while he is doing the isolator, and the handle alignment is cosmetic, nothing to worry about.

!thanks Steven.
Just to check why I should ask him to check the aerator for grit?
Could this be related to the issue and is it a concern for drinking water?

Could I do this myself?

aerator check is just a 'while hes there' thing, not really related to the spurting. after any new tap install you often get bits of flux, little pipe shavings or scale off the old pipework ending up in the aerator mesh. shows up as a weak or splashy flow usually. nothing to do with drinking water safety, just stops the tap flowing right.
totally a diy job, 30 seconds. aerator unscrews off the end of the spout, usually by hand or wrap a cloth round it and use grips if its tight so you dont mark the chrome. rinse the mesh under the tap, screw it back on.
on the spurting itself, a tablespoon once an hour from thermal expansion like steven said is normal and shouldnt get worse. if it starts dripping more often or you see any damp under the sink then flag it to him. handle alignment is cosmetic, the cartridge just got dropped in a few degrees off when fitted. hed need to pull the handle and reseat it if you want it lined up but functionally it changes nothing.

Ive just noticed that the hot water flows exclusively out of the inner holes of the aerator regardless of water flow, whereas the cold water comes out of the remaining outer holes.

New photo attached, showing flow with just hot water, then cold water.

Is this a normal design feature fir modern taps or potentialy indicates another or related issue with the tap.
