New light and switch

Want to have new light and switch in new room i am building(put up stud wall in bedroom to make into two)
Can I just run cable from the light in the other room to new switch and then cable to new light?
New at electrics !! so any advice and what best to do if this not right

However...have a look here, it shouild be quite easy to do what you want but if you have no experience of electrics whatsoever be careful you dont electrocute yourself!!
