New pressure reducing valve

It is reducing pressure when a tap is used. But just shooting up to main pressure when nothing in use

Yes, understood, but try and get a handle on just how much its leaking past by doing the above test, just keep opening any tap very very gradually until the pressure just stops falling, it should be ~ 3.0bar or possibly slightly higher, doesn't really matter, take a photo then of the water flowing/dripping from the tap and post it.

Thanks I'll have a go. I know it says preset to 3 bar so thought it would stop at 3 when turn the mains back on. But it just carried on rising quickly to max full mains pressure

Thanks I'll contact them. If I got a new valve would replacing the just the head gear be an option?

I wouldn't, under any circumstances, mix old with new.

Are you sure that there is other mains supply to showers or a unvented cylinder etc and that this PRV is the only source?

Yes there is no other mains so won't be back pressuring.

You wouldn't attempt swapping just the head of the valve?
