Whilst in the process of replacing my soffits and facias, my roofer suggested that I have the whole roof replaced as the underfelt had a number of fairly minor cuts and holes. He's quoted me £1800 including tiles and VAT. Sounds like a bargain to me, but is the job really necessary. Like I said, there are a number of holes 5-10 including one large damaged area 1mtr squared.

The tiles were extra as the roofer suggested that removing tiles is likely to damage them and the replacement tiles would not match the original.

What d'ya think?

Hmmm, I wouldn't worry too much about it unless the tiles are in poor condition, remember there're many homes without roofing felts!

That could mean nearly all the tiles---add maybe another £2000 to your bill :D

Holes in felt is a minor problem, they can be patched if they worry you.
If your roof is generally in ok condition and weatherproof then why replace?
If it aint broke don't fix it!
