Hi all,

Tiler said we didn’t need to silicone round the toilet and pedestal, or tile to skirting, as it discolours..

Should I just run some white silicone around it all?

TIA

Mark

OP,
After explaining the consequences of using silicone I always gave the customer the choice of silicone or nothing around the base of certain fixtures or skirting.
I would explain that silicone would need maintenance cleaning, & eventually replacement.
I would also explain that the ribbons of silicone that daub so many bathrooms & kitchens were a relatively recent practice.

Using tile grout is also a poor practice given that the grout usually cracks &/or falls out when used as above.
Its interesting that often the more silicone on show the worse the job.
