No heating but got warm water

Hi
Am hoping someone wil help me as I've bought a house and after a few months the heating stopped working but the boiler stil gives me hot water
I got a mate of a mate who works for British gas to look at it but after looking at it for 2 mins he said I need a new boiler...
I think he was just after a job on the side for easy money
The boiler is a honeywell v4073a039
And the thermostat is a hcw80
The wireless thermostat used to have a flashing green light but all it does now is flash red
So I bought another of eBay but it seems this one does the same so it can't be that
The boiler as a few different setting on it which I don't know are right so I've uploaded a pic if anyone can tell me the right setting. Thanks
Any help will be great as winters here and I can't afford a new boiler as yet and the electric heaters are very pricey!

Sorry, can you tell me the right settings for the pump then please and what else would u need to know? The boiler is used for both hot water and heating but only getting water?

Your boiler make! If you have no heating then you need to link that stat with it's receiver, easily done but judging by what you're posting I think you will not understand. Why has your BG mate said new boiler?

Your boiler make and model would be useful, or post a picture of it and we will probably be able to work out what it is for you

v4073 is the part number of a honeywell motorised valve not a boiler, and that is where your problem is I believe.
You either have two motorised valves 1 for HW and 1 for CH and the CH one is faulty.

Or you have 1 3port valve which supplies both HW and CH. this being faulty because it can't move to the ch position or if it can it does not light boiler due to faulty micro switch.

v4073 is a 3port mid position valve
