NO HOT WATER(HELP PLEASE)

its a valve on the water pipe heading into the hot tank..looks rectangular..attached to pipe electric cable coming out of it..

sounds like this needs changing, or atleast the syncron motor inside does

says HONEYWELL MOTORISED VALVE small lever on base ..one side says auto other says main open

wiring at clock controller appears fine also oppened and checked 3 fused wall sockets and they too appear to be okay

the black cable coming from valve. if you can see where these join in your wiring centre, with HW on only check to see if theres 230v at the brown, grey and finally orange wire, this would indicate the valve working ok

or its easier to just listen to hear the motor opening

I have no means of checking the voltage. How about if I was to disconnect one the central heating valves and hard wire into the same ports as the hot water valve, switch on hot water and check to see if the central heating one fires up?

personally i wouldnt advise bridging/ linking anything out

have you tried listening to the HW M Valve opening?

Do that, latch it on the hooky bit and you will have hot water, probably.
You will also be heating the water whenever the heating's on, so it'll need fixing - new motor or head or whole valve, unless the thermostat/programmer is faulty - about a 3% chance it's one of those!

I understand what you mean but wont this only heat the water to a max of 30 degrees as that is as high as the central heating goes

30 is the temp of the rooms not the boiler.
If you turn the boiler up, and turn the rads off, the boiler will get hot trying to satisfy the room thermostat, making the HW hot on the side...
