Hi, last week I had a radiator replaced in my house. The plumber drained central heating system, replaced radiator, filled back up and tested. Heating works fine, but I've now noticed that my hot water is running cold. The boiler is on and the HW is set to 24 hour. I'm currently using the immersion to heat the water. Also I have a hot water tap in a loft conversion that now doesn't have any water coming out at all. Is this part of the same problem? I'm sure it's something simple and my plumber could sort it, but he's buggered off on holiday for 2 weeks! Any help would be appreciated.

No hot water could be an airlock in the hot water side of the system. Have you got an air bleed next to your hot water cylinder?

Try turning your heating off, hw on, pump on full speed and if you have a bypass shut it.

No water out of the upstairs tap will be another airlock but on the domestic side. Try connecting a hose from cold mains to hot tap , open hot tap then turn on cold tap and see if that pushes air lock out.

I think all that might be a bit too much for the average householder.

Never employ a plumber who goes on holiday when you might need him!
