No to 80mph

Whenever a lane change happens the risk of collision increases.
The risk increases. Yes. the amount it increases depends on how much care is taken when changing lane. How many "drivers" are already changing lane when their indicator flashes for the first time.

Mirror, indicate, count four flashes, check lane is still clear, change lane was what I was taught.

It's a fact. No speed differential - no need to change lane.
Would you like cars restricted to the maximum safe speed of heavy goods vehicles to ensure no speed differential.

That would be fine if there was zero tolerance above 80mph. Get a ticket at 81 with average speed cameras. Then all traffic would travel in the middle and outside lane at the same speed - hence no accidents. It's speed differential that's the problem.

You need an allowance for speedo errors (currently 10%) On the motorway in a 50 average limit you often come up behind cars at 45 because they believe their speedo is correct when it obviously isn't...

Inappropriate speed is the issue, high speeds on motorways are perfectly acceptable, the issue often arises when elderly or our Asian brethren (usually female ) enjoy a more sedate life whilst on the motorway. This can be compounded by Johnny foreigner bringing their version of road sense to the UK

Typical point, in a lot of overseas countries coming up to a slower driver they will typically flash their lights. It means "Stay where you are I am coming past" Over here it means "get out of the bloody way"

Hence confusion and the opertunity for an accident increases...

There is ALLWAYS a speed differential lorries 60mph all other traffic varying speeds roughly between 50mph and 80mph

Lorries use the middle lane too. For your theory to work lorries would have to be restricted to the inside lane only.
Everyone else would have to be compelled to travel at 80mph and fined for driving slower or yet again your theory would fall apart as it would when people have to slow down to feed in through the 60mph lorries to get to an exit.

If you plan was instigated no one would ever be able to leave the motorway...lol you are silly.

Well he is the forum oaf, though noseall is vying for the crown with his simplistic nonsense.

I said the middle and outer lanes.

so if both middle and outer lanes are traveling 80mph and then someone in the middle lane wants to leave the motorway they have to slow to 60mph first to merge in with the lorries?

So spreads the speed differential accross the motorway again.

'yur pln is flawd bro' Thats txtspk that 'u lk'

wot whos the biggest 'nob'

too many interesting threads on this forum degenerate into a slanging match, just so someone can say theyve got the biggest ego.
its all so tedious.
HEAD, NAIL, HIT!!! The juvenile willie waving is something to behold and unique to this Board for some reason.

I do with some flair and skill too.

I must add I don't think motorways are for you Joe, you bump other cars in 30mph zones.

I just stick my foot to the floor. I don't look at the speedo, whatever that is.
