Noisey 3 way valve

Please can anybody advise why when my wall stat and cylinder stat plus programmer are all showing off ie not calling for heat, the 3 way valve keeps buzzing. The main power though is of course still turned on to run the programmer and frost protection if required

Thats the motor still energised as it was turned off whilst in the mid pos or heating mode. It will stay there until the next timed period where it will either stay where it is or go to hw or htg or both depending on what stat is calling.

Do you think that the valve/system might be wired incorrectly, as I don't understand why the valve motor is still energised after all seems to be swithed off?

Thats how they are supposed to work. There is a very good explanation of how a Y plan valve works in the FAQ's.
