Not before time?

You aren't listening are you? It's not the legal dealers that are doing it - it is the illegals.

Strange then that licensed ones in our area , are the ones being visited by police. The police have found scrap lead and copper at them which has been marked with Smartwater, proving where it was stolen from. One has been threatened with prosecution and another licensed dealer was closed for a month after being found to be buying stolen scrap.

So it's not just the "Illegal Scrappies" receiving police attention.

But that is a case of the legal dealer being duped - they are not doing it as a living like the illegals are.

There was a report on BBC news about this very thing this morning. The reporter said that the police aren't allowed to visit the unlicenced scrappies.

They can do - but they need a court order to do so.

Is it f***. It's the legal dealers who hand out cash for scrap metal with no questions asked who are fencing stolen copper and lead. If the legal scrap dealers aren't doing it for a living (like the illegal ones are) then WTF do they deal in scrap metal for? The fun of it????

At the scrappies today. On the weighbridge....p*key's horse n cart.

Think the p*key was in the office providing details for his Coutts bank account.

There are plenty of scrap collectors around the suburbs. I got rid of radiators, cookers, fridges and stuff quite legally that way.

They picked them up on a flat bed truck - but there were no coils of copper wire off the railways or plaques off the war memorials on the back of the wagon.
And I often see the legal scrap yards being checked. Would you risk it?

Most pikys i know may do the railway, it is failsafe, but wouldn't do the plaque stuff, that's for bagheads, if that's not racist.
