Now that is service!

I posted another thread a couple of weeks back re sentencing and if the punishment fitted the crime. Regardless of their background/heritage, the SCUM that prey on people when it comes to carrying out works and then charging ridiculously high sums for their 'services' should be locked up for years. When I read stories of a (usually old and vulnerable) person being charged e.g. £10k for the replacement of 3 roof tiles, often with the victim being 'helpfully' taken to the bank by the criminals, it makes my blood boil. There can be absolutely no justification from the criminals perspective.

On a much lesser scale, years back I had a knock at my door, couple of 'gentlemen' saying they'd finished a upvc roof cladding job and had some fascia and soffit board left over and did I want it fitted at a greatly reduced price. My bullsh1t detector started going off big time. I politely declined. Woman a couple of doors up took them up on the offer. They (poorly) installed what they had on the van (just a few lengths) said they'd return the next day with more material to complete the job but would need paid there and then so they could buy the additional supplies. Woman paid them, did they return the next day? I'll leave you to guess. She was left with around half her roof done if that. And because these people are often transient with unmarked vehicles, chances of any comeback against them are minimal.

On a more positive note and to answer the OPs question, we used to have our gas heating and plumbing on a British Gas service plan. We were always happy with the speed with which they sent an engineer out and, most of the time, the quality of the work. Bar the time the bath waste was leaking and the engineers 'solution' was to pump 1/2 a tube of silicon around it!

Additionally, the Washington Post article referred to the 2008 and 2014 election.
They were referring to non-citizens voting.
Due to the heavy criticism received the Post made a prelude to the article:
Richman and Earnest’s thesis was extremely controversial, and was so heavily criticized that the Post ultimately published a note preceding the article, pointing out that many objections to the work had been made

Showing your bias too though, by neglecting to quote this very pertinent section:

"But the Post never actually retracted or withdrew the piece. It was ironic, then, that when Trump tweeted about millions of illegal voters, the Washington Post’s fact-checker chastised him for relying on “conspiracy-minded websites.” After all, the conspiracy-minded website in question was the Post itself."

Big respect to your brother (y) we were burgled by some of these people a while back, i went out of my way to corelate some HQ cctv evidence i had into a very precise detail of the offenders car which eventually led to a prosecution, was still so surprised how long it took and how much evidence they needed, despite the police initially searching a caravan and finding my office TV there all boxed up as it left my office captured on camera. And they wonder why they are not welcome near to civilised people.

Sounds about right. Trouble is, where my brother works is a dept of the local council which, as with all councils, has more than it's fair share of people who think like Himmy. Fortunately there are a few who aren't hindered by moronic pc dogma. Many at councils want to treat travellers with kid gloves. Your case reminds me of a docker who worked at Avonmouth some years ago. The local caravan utilising nomadic travellers (always the ones from The Emerald Isle) had 'relieved' him of his motorcycle. He had visited the local site and could see his bike through the fence. Even with this evidence the local police didn't want to know until he said he would take a gang of his mates from the docks to 'reclaim' his property.

Maybe your brother could help me out.

Even though I drive a VW, I ordered an Escort last night, she was here within an hour but she looked a lot older than 35. What are my rights?

Andy

Was her back doors rusty?

This thread was supposed to be about GOOD service. We hear enough complaints about bad service most days of our lives. Lets try talking about positive things for a change this year.

Albeit from years ago, I'll give you a combined bad and good service story ;)

Bought a Vauxhall Cavalier GSi 2nd hand from local small scale car dealer.
Not long after it was out of warranty, the engine management light started coming on.
I took the car to my local Vauxhall dealer. They diagnosed a new ECU was required, cost all in £1,200 or thereabouts (bear in mind this was 25ish years ago!)
I declined the repair and contacted the dealer who sold me the car. He suggested I use another Vauxhall dealer they used in a different town.
Took the car there. They diagnosed a faulty sensor, cost all in £79 :) Good service.

I had the same thing with an XR2i. Exhaust blowing, took it to (I know I know should have known better!) Kwik Fit and they diagnosed the entire exhaust system needed replaced.
I declined the repair and took it to another garage. They diagnosed just one section was faulty, the rest was fine. Saved a fair whack! Good service.

And this site has more than its fair share of racists who jump at any and every opportunity to spout their racist propaganda.

I reckon you are the biggest racist on here the way you ""protesteth too much""
So a Tory must be a labour supporter really. And a labour MP must be a Tory really.
A Catholic Priest must be a Cof E really, etc.
You do come out with some nonsense, generated by your weird version of twisted logic.
