New WB Greenstart Danesmoor 18/25, working well but there is a definite oil aroma in the utility room. No weeps or seeps on the oil or pump and the flue is pluming nicely with no oil smell whatever or smoke outside.

Is the oily smell to be expected, or abnormal please?

Thanks

The nose is very sensitive to smell and its just possible that you have a sensitive nose and are just noticing a slightly different smell from before.

The test I always ask is would a visitor make a comment on the smell when coming into the room for the first time?

I am often called to slight smells which dont really exist by neurotic people. Many can still "smell gas" even when its been turned off for hours!

I was called back to one of my installations for a report of smell of gas. Tested it and there was no leak. I had to very politely inform the customer that it was his bin bag full of rotting food and waste that had been in the kitchen for a few days that was causing the 'smell'

Take notice of ChrisR, not of people suggesting you have a mental problem. You might have a real problem.
