So that heated blanket would warm the room up then or just the part of you that needed warming? Why would it be cheaper to run? All electric heaters are 100% efficient.
All parts of me need warming and not just the bottom. I have a column of hot air rising around me.So that heated blanket would warm the room up then or just the part of you that needed warming?

I warm up through radiator and jump into bed. It's the same thing, and I don't need special preparation because I am usually at the computer + radiator before bed. The radiator warms me and my chair. It also warms my ears. If that isn't direct heating, I don't know what is.An electric blanket, is a very much more efficient method of getting into a warm bed, compared to warming the entire bedroom.
100w gives you less heat than the 500w I have. You pay less for being colder.
It depends on what, the lesser heat, has to warm up.

Because it uses less power [say 50W instead of 2kW]. The end goal is to improve comfort rather than raise the temperature of the building. As such, sitting on it when it's on means I run the central heating a lot less. Why would it be cheaper to run? All electric heaters are 100% efficient.
I'm not convinced a blanket, is the best method, an electrically heat pad might be safer.
It's called a blanket but it's designed to go under a sheet. I am not sure what the proper name for that is.

I use radiator in unheated room. So 50W won't do it. Being directly above 500W works OK with clothing most of the time. For weather at -5C, an 800W would be needed.Because it uses less power [say 50W instead of 2kW]. The end goal is to improve comfort rather than raise the temperature of the building. Just go get yourself some skiing long johns from decathlon and be done with it.It depends on the volume/mass you are attempting to keep warm. When I was without an electric blanket, I would simply put a laptop in the bed to warm it.
