My parents have a very old room stat on the wall, Drayton type RCT 6(2)A 200/250V. There is a cable, looks like a 1mm twin and earth going from it to where the old boiler was. They had a replacement boiler put in, itself now being quite old (optima 701 combi) and the room stat has never been connected to it. I have over the years put TRVs on the rads and installed a bypass valve. The boiler cycles quite frequently to correct this I am wondering if the old room stat can be wired to this boiler.
The connectors on the boiler state that attaching 240V would damage the PCB and 24V is required.
Would attaching this room stat to the boiler with the existing 1mm twin and earth work as there is no mains power to the room stat, any current going into it would presumably only be from the PCB ie 24V.
Could the PCB be damaged? would it work ok or would the 24v from the PCB simply be insufficient to work with the 200/250V room stat
