Guys , Daughter in law has just got a late model Felicia Popular with the skoda engine . 2000 year model . So apart from the agricultural engine and " wooden " brakes and no power steering are there any problems to keep an eye out for ?

Assuming its the same(ish) 1300 engine as used in the Favorit, IIRC the 'Coil ring' in the distributor can cause problems. (No warning, car will suddenly decide it wont start.... )
