Hi, Great forum by the way.

Im an OFTEC service engineer but without the experience of some of you guys. Im hard at it learning on the job but still finding odd probs, really appreciate your help please....

Old wall hung Trianco with Sterling burner:

Had a few odd events such as programmer showing incomplete display then nothing - fuse had gone on isolator - could the faulty display be a poor back up battery? (Old version of the Lifestyle 722 with 'Twice' instead of 'Timer).

Sorted the fuse, all power ok, motor runs but no spark but doesnt lock out just keeps running.
Checked photocell and coil, all ok.
Tricky to remove burner as some cowboy chippy has boxed it all in, will pull out tomorrow.

Any ideas would be hugely appreciated.
Thanks[/u]

You need to fit a new battery in the clock and a new control box on the burner.

In addition to previous post.

Make sure the EBI has not shorted.
It may have a blister on it.
Was fuse correct rating.

Deffo the TF830 Control box BUT check the Ignition Transformer for b;listering as it is common for the Ignition Transformer to blow up and take the control box with it so check before plugging on a new box!! ;)

Agree with Control box and transformer. However as no lockout, it's possible that whilst running the solenoid has opened spraying fuel into the chamber. You're seriously advised to remove burner and check the base before you repair and light.

Thats great thanks, Ill pick up a new control box and EBI tomorrow and yes, will deff dry out the chamber first, will probably be swimming in it...

If its a Trianco WH it will be broken again within three months!!
Had a new coil last year but otherwise installed in 1999 so done well so far. Maybe the later control boxes are better? Had an 830.2 now has an 830.3 - do you think theyve improved them?

Not really a bad box, but a failing component can often take out the box.
