Hi
I have a one way light switch which I have rewired ....Im am pretty sure I rewired it the same way as I found it but now it wont switch off it remains permanently on.
Anybody got any ideas as to what the problem may be ??

Many thanks

How many wires were at the switch? What colours are they? How is it connected now? Does it blow the fuse if you try to turn the light switch 'on'? Can you post a picture of the current switch and how it is connected?

there is a red connected to the live black to n and bare wire which Im sure is the earth the wires from the light are brown to L Blue to N and yellow/green to earth Im sorry I cant provide a photo at the moment but be grateful for any ideas you may have ....thanks

So you have 2 cables at the switch?
red and brown to one terminal and blue and black to the other?

Was there a loud bang and a puff of smoke before it permanently stayed on?

Crafty will be along shortly. I'm off to the pub.
And what makes you think I have all the answers? . . . oh never mind.

Lemons, your explanation is as clear as mud, no offence. So are there 2 cables at this switch? In this case, you need to connect the 2 neutrals together. NEVER CONNECT NEUTRALS TO A SINGLE POLE SWITCH. Then connect the Lives across the switch. There isn't a neutral terminal on the switch. What are the terminals really laballed as?
