Hello,

If you missed my last post then this is a new problem (the other one isnt sorted either).

My boiler was losing pressure, had heat exchanger and PRV replaced and still doing same thing. Still loses pressure in about two hours when turned off.

Today something new!! I pressurised the system, put the hot water on for 15 mins before i went to footy and then tried to get a shower. No hot water from taps. Boiler running and heating tank. I turned of water and turned on heating as a test. Boiler switched itself off and pump failed to kick in. Pipes started to make a light knocking sound. Heating out pipe red (and i mean red) hot. Went upstairs to check other rads amd only two were hot (both towel heaters) and when i say hot i mean nuclear! Am sat here now having turned it all off and am cold. What on earth is going on? My boiler is aoil fired combi, heatslave 15/19.

regards!

I don't do oil but I think if you get the leak sorted it might go some way to solving your problems, and your boiler is at serious risk of running dry and causing irrepairable damage.

If your losing pressure, more than likely its draning some of the water out of the boiler water jacket.

When you fill up,take the top cover off the boiler and you will see 2/3 bleed vents on the boiler, these need to be vented. Dont just fill up and hope for the best.

Everytime you fill up,you need to vent boiler and slave tank.Good Luck

HI slapper,

i understand, i assume that the pump has gone since it refused to move water around the system. I am also assuming that i will be without water or heating for a very long time since my plumber says he will look at it tonight and then will have to give up.

Worcester Bosch call out is over £200 but ive heard that they are no better than a regular plumber so i dont see what good that will do? What should i do??

Im happy to throw money at the problem, i just need someone to identify the bloody problem!!! :!:

Did you vent the boiler and slave tank, get the Plumber to check out the pump, heatslaves concentrate on heating the slave tank first before diverting onto the heating side.

Also get him to check diverter valve

Btw,if your happy to throw money at it,then get Worcester out. If they dont get it working dont pay em.I,m fairly sure that they,ll sort it.

Hi all,

Slapper - Will get him to do all of those things when he comes round tomorrow but im pretty sure he will have done it since he has spent a total of 6 hours with it so far iover the last couple of weeks.

I will see what he can do tomorrow then i will get Worcester out, but im almost certain now that it is a leek in the system but that the water is going somewhere that i cant see it (under concrete floor maybe). I did a little experiment last night. System had been off for two days due to issues and so was stone cold and had 0 pressure (since the origional problem was that it kept losing pressue). So i filled it up to 1.5 bar and bled the system of air from the radiators and also the boiler itself. Then re pressurised back up to 1.5 bar again and got the last bits of air out. When i got back from work (just now) it has 0 pressure again. No water anywhere near boiler or from PRV. As a result i am now more than ever convinced that there is a leak somwhere in the house. Problem now is that since there is no sign or smell of damp i will struggle to find it!

As for where i am in Yorkshire - i am in Cawood (today it is flooded which is quite worrying as there are some crazies who have their cars parked behind the flood walls which are 7 feet high and the water is just starting to lap over the top).

The fun literally never stops here!!

are you sure your blow off valve is not bypassing , Have you looked outside once you have filled the system ?
