Opinion needed from the experts (hip to ridge joint)

Never done dry hip/ridge before. So what holds the other end of the hip and ridge down then where they meet each other at the bit were talking about?

Dry ridge systems do not lend themselves well to complex junctions like the one shown in this post.

The dry ridge suppliers will have you believe that it's a piece of cake, but they don't have to get up there and fit them!

The beauty about your previous arrangement, i.e. mortared ridge is that you are able to dictate the finished height of the ridge simply by adding more mortar. This makes life easier when dealing with ridge elevations of differing direction and pitch.
