I need to replace the bay window in my home, and could do with some inspiration on what to do about replacing the blinds.
The current set are fine in principle- the wooden slat type that are made to measure online are perfect for us... except I don't know how I would properly install them in this case. As you can see from the photos there is coving above the frame, and in fact all around the room- obviously I don't want to get into removing it. The previous owners seem to have bodged the blinds on by screwing the holders into a combination of the uPVC frame and the surrounding plaster, which is far from ideal.
I could glue some battens to the top of the uPVC frame itself, and fix the brackets for the blinds to the battens- but perhaps there are pitfalls there that I don't yet know about.
I've looked at the clip-in frames, which would probably work, although the size of the central window in the bay makes this awkward (and my wife isn't convinced)- it's difficult to find products that will be large enough. I don't see that I could attach the blinds to the ceiling, so I'm not sure what the correct solution is.
Thoughts?
