Firstly this stuff is fantastic! I've put down osmo polyx oil on my sanded pine floorboards. easy to do & it looks great.

Anyway, question is how long should I leave it before using the room (bedroom) returning furniture etc. I want to decorate, including sanding walls etc and don't want to get bits stuck in the oil and make a mess of the nice finish. Walking on the floor sounds a little 'tacky' with trainers on although it feels fine. (I finished the job 3 days ago, I didn't put it on too thick I don't think, applied with a paint pad, spreading in, no film sitting on top or anything like that.)

What should I expect from it?

Also (for the future) if I want to touch up bits can I just apply a little extra oil to local ares. Should i thin it down with white spirit if doing this? and can I wash with a little water or do i really need to use their special washing stuff for cleaning?

If you used the osmo hardwaxoil it woudl have said on the tin to apply to first coat thinly. Let it dry for at least 8 hours, then apply the second coat within 36 - 48 hours. Leaving it longer to apply the second coat means resanding it lightly.

The hardwaxoil has to cure for 10 days before you can place rugs etc on top of it, normal furniture can be put back 24 hours after you have applied the second coat.
No need to touch it up with the oil itself, use a suitable maintenance product every 5 to 6 months.

But.... finishing a floor should always be the last thing in any decoration project.
