Outdoor Kitchen/Grill Area

The whole thing looks awesome CG. Thanks for all the details.

Is the fridge a special outside model (if they do such a thing?!)

What’s the white board/sheeting you’ve used inside around the fridge, etc?

Thanks for that.

No, the fridge (actually a wine cooler) is a 'normal' one costing £150 new. Outdoor models do exist, but cost stupid money. We shall see! The white board- another quandary...

I looked for exterior cement board- may as well have been looking for 8x4 sheets of ivory! What you see is wbp graded ply, with about 4 coats of paint. It was reasonably priced, so worth going for. Ona wider note, with lockdown, shopping around is almost impossible. Everything is 'available' online. Until you try and buy it! It's been very restrictive.

Thanks for the extra info CG. You’ve inspired me to do something similar!!

I think a big cover would be a good shout to keep everything protected from the elements.

Do you have links(s) to the stainless steel bits you bought on amazon? I’ve tried searching but no joy.

The double drawer must've been ordered by wifey, but you get the idea. The drawers and door have a sort of 'architrave' effect, so the hole can be easily covered. A problem with the drawers is they have a very good 'click shut', but that requires a good pull to open them. They don't have a method to lock them in position, so when you 'open the drawer' you pull it out of the wall! I'll probably drill the sides and put 2 screws in each.

For the door, it's also 'architraved', so you slide it in and secure with screws to the sides. In all cases, I framed the opening so the ply can be secured behind the architrave bit, unseen.

The sink has no hole for the tap, you have to drill the worktop. My choice, but might be more critical if you went for a hard worktop- you wouldn't want to get it wrong!

I'm gonna have to stop reading this forum while we're still planning our garden space. That looks outstanding - no idea what your trade is, but I'd say that's easily commercial quality.

Very kind Dan- you're on the guest list for the official opening lol. I'm a retired headteacher. My subtle camera work hides a multitude of sins!

First coat of stain on the top today. Wife: It's too red!:( New tin tomorrow then!

Personally I think it looks bang on from that photo. May be worth leaving it for a week to mellow and see if Mrs G changes her mind.

Did you do the stone work out of interest? I may have missed that bit

It looking a quality job and that's a view and a half for outside dining. Lots of room for the annual DIYnot party. lol.
