Outer cable sheath inside socket box

Is there a standard or best practice for how much of the grey outer sheath should be removed from the cable once the cable has come through the grommet and is inside the socket or switch box?

I need to create some extra space for a Shelly Relay in this instance but would be helpful to understand this.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Interesting thread here:
https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/length-of-cable-in-back-box.512014/

Basically no 'rules' for length, but as long as the (undamaged) sheath enters the back box and there is enough length left so that it can't accidently be pulled (or pushed!) out again, it should be ok.
And remember to leave plenty of length on the inner cables, they are far easier to manoeuvre around obstructions! :)
