Hasn't been yet.On further investigation it is a multi-strand cable but it isn't 6mm. It's also old and brittle, so it's going in the bin.

Is it insulated with what is (or was) black rubber?
If so it is very old, and well past it's date for replacement. You should have your electrician check the entire installation in case you've got any other old cables with the insulation crumbling away.
