Painting Gas Pipe

Hi There,

I have a 2" gas pipe running along my outside wall which is in need of painting, it is currently a rusty orange colour.

My question, I know gas pipe paint exists, but does the colour have to be a certain "yellow" to comply with regs ?

Gas pipe paint seems quite expensive for 5ltrs so was just wondering.

But surely it only have to be that colour in industrial premises?

If he lives in a house then I would expect he can paint it any colour that he likes!

Look at new building sites i have not seen a single pipe outside painted any other colour than black or brown yes i know yellow is gases designated colour but i would paint it with a black bitumen based paint

It is a pipe about 6mtrs long going along side a nightclub.

So assuming it serves the night club then it is commercial and has regs to comply with.

Whos wall is it on yours or theirs. ??

it's on my wall, it comes out of the exterior gas meter box and rises up the wall into the club.

Do they have permission to run it on your property, whoever fitted should paint it

Yes they do, it has been there a few years, i don't have a problem with it, we were talking about it last week and i suggested painting it, it's a favour for a favour, they have my rubbish bin on there ground and i have their gas pipe etc next to me.
