Never heard any large scale instances of that happening? It would deffo be newsworthy if they did. Take anything trolls nwgs and gassy say, with a large pinch of salt.

If it is a comms issue they will still work. Nothing to turn back on.
you obviously dont know how they work certain faults need to be sorted remotely by comms . So if a meter has turned off and it needs a reset sent by comms do you think they should do this and do away with the need for anyone to visit

I’ve only stated my personal experiences.

But Cadent refusing to work on them should tell you, a gas engineer all you need to know.

They get paid £x per meter, SM’s aren’t worthwhile so they dropped the contract.

even as early as 2011 national grid were raising the issues regards costs with ofgem
 
It is 'day' now, and you are posting replies now. Why are you not out, and busy, investigating all these faulty meters, which you claim there are?
I don’t work Saturdays!
