I want to replace the old paint covered steel ones with shiny brass ones for some french doors.

The old lady has a thing for gold.

So, the hinge is 102x120 (just under 5 inches).

Everywhere I look they are 102x127, so the old hinges are short by just a quarter inch.

Am I looking for something that no longer exists? If so I'll give up and re-fit the slightly large version, I just wanted to avoid making alterations really.

the hinge is the same size its the throw thats different
youll be lucky iff the screw holes line up

I was going to rebate a further 2.5mm into both the frame and door, would this work ?

Screw holes are a mile out

does it actually matter ??
the door and the frame are in identical positions to each other its just the knuckle/pivot point that moves a fewmm further out
i assume in your head the difference will mismatch the surface off the door and frame ??

Well I put them in, rebated out a few mm on the door side and the operating was unaffected. Paint needs touching up.

I like the look. These are incredibly expensive but they really look beautiful.

The photo doesn't do them justice, in the daylight they glimmer like a leprechauns treasure trove
