So we've bought a house, and as we have cats and are moving from a carpeted property that has had flee issues we wanted to move away from carpet as much as possible.

We've sorted most of the rooms just fine, floorboards with underlay and then laminate, easy stuff. We have some of these peel and stick vinyl planks as we had used them before, so we were wondering if they could go in the attic. The real question is does anything need to be done to the boards that the subfloor are made up of.

I've included a picture above of its current state after the carpet pull up before a proper cleaning has occurred. I assume from the look of it that it is hardboard. Will the vinyl planks go on this fine or will the floor need priming or something before hand.

This isn't a floor we're expecting to have forever or anything, just something to last a bit while everything else gets done, paid off, and we can start improving the house a room at a time.

So back to the original questions, will peel and stick vinyl be fine and does anything need to happen to the boards beforehand?

Cheers guys.

Prep in back to flat, so nails, staples, stuck underlay, glue residue off.

The more fresh the surface the better the finish and adhesion.
