Electrician has finished a job and fitted new pendant drop roses and cables as part of job. The drop cables are not straight and look unsightly.

They were done around 3 weeks ago now and have not really straightened out, I asked the electrician and he says they will straighten themselves out in time with a light shade over them but I'm not sure if this is true. Can someone confirm if these are acceptable?

Also he fitted spotlights in the loft and didn't screw down the junction boxes so they are just loose, again he says this is normal.

Mm, i am sure an electrican will come along and advise you ….. soon.

P.S. nice windows.

You can help them along by manipulating the flex by hand to try and straighten them with the light turned off but he is correct - they will straighten on their own eventually. Takes a bit of time...give it a couple of months and gravity will do the work for you.

Just put a lampshade up that has a reasonable weight - with the heat of the day it will straighten out

It's okay if the junction boxes have strain relief cable clamps.

If they don't then they should be screwed to the joists and the cables clipped to the joists.

You said lampshade and heat of day will straighten cable but it will be gravity which actually does it. :)

I'm sorry but some people I would not work for if I had a customer complaining about my pendant drops not being perfectly straight... Grr..
LOL

Its the way they pack them when new that bends them.
Though sometimes one core is pulled slightly more than the other causing a bend, that never straigtens on its own, you physically have to get up there hold the cable at the bottom above the lampholder and with other hand sort of bend the cable the opposite way and massage the cable upwards and the internal cores will sort of even out in the casing
