Hi,

People keep reversing my drive.

I would like to stop this trend by installing a chain or using traffic cones.

Does anyone know what the catch is with H & S?

The chain or cones would be within my boundary but I am concerned about the postman tripping or something like that.

Stop being a miserable git; if the road isn't that wide or space is limited sometimes in larger vehicles you have to use a drive as the only option.

For your information the road is a through road so there is no need to reverse.
The last time some idiot did it they nearly crashed into me as I was reversing out of my garage in my own drive.

i take it you use other people's drive? You know, it is called trespass.

Put up a barrier, on your property side.
If they crash into it, their fault. Tough. Make sure it can damage their car.
As you say trespass is trespass.

Its not trespass if there is no gate

Actually you are correct.
Parking there is not considered an offence either without a gate that has to be opened. The new can of worms is then when you are blocked in, or out.
They can be moved for stopping you leaving, but not entering.

Great laws or what?

Not true.
Each November5th our road is like a giant car park because of the firework display in the local park. I live on a wide dual carriageway so on this night they park everywhere including the central reservation.

Last year some pillock decided to park across my drive way whilst the wife was out. It meant she would have to park in a narrow side street around the corner, (if she was lucky enough to find a space), unless I could get this car shifted or put my company car on the grass part of the pavement when she arrived.

As I was weighing up the options a police car was patrolling past which stopped, the PC asked me if anything was the matter so I explained the situation. He got out of the patrol car, looked all round the offending vehicle then pulled out his book and gave him a fixed penalty notice for obstruction on a public highway.

As it was, the wife had been delayed and didn't arrive home till about 15 minutes after the display had ended and this prat had gone.

But the car was still there

He put the fixed penalty notice on the windscreen and placed the wiper blade on the bottom edge. Shortly after this, about 10-15 minutes later, when I looked out this car had gone. About 15 minutes after this the wife arrived home and was able to pull into our driveway unobstructed.

The point being the car was not physically removed by the police.
You got lucky it moved when it did.

did it matter where the ticket was placed?
