I was carrying out a run of the mill PIR on a domestic property today ready for new tennants to move in.

I discovered the property had no earth supply.

The supply was a TN-S supply on split concentric cable. I've never seen a split con earth fail before.

Makes it worthwhile paying for that PIR :D

(I also found another 22 faults in this house)

most likely it wasn't the cable that failed but something at a joint in the distribution network.

do the DNO even test the earth when they joint a new peice of split con onto an old lead and paper cable?

I had a joint fail on a straight con PME connection. The Ze was 1135.

It turned out the link was never tightened properly. Built in 1975.....

Naturally I had my camera with me

The link from the cutout to the MET was... erm.... different.
