Got a call on my mobile last week, then two calls today about three hours apart.
Each time it only rang twice before stopping.
Luckily, by the time I had got my phone out they had rung off, so I did not try to answer without looking at the screen.
Each time the number was displayed as

08707 183944

No idea who it is because only 18 people and Asda (my mobile provider) have my mobile number.
Checked with 'SayNoTo0870' and it is not listed as a company number.
It looks like it is one of those scams where, out of curiosity, you return the call only to be charged an astronomical call charge for about 10 minutes.
As this was not a 'one-off', please take care as they may just be automatically mass dialling numbers hoping to catch as many as possible out.

Just got this reply from someone on another forum:

From an Orange phone, the number answers as "Welcome to Orange Talk Time"

From a Virgin phone, it answers as "You're calling Mobiles Direct, our offices are closed..."

(I used SIM cards that I never normally use and preceeded the number with "141" which withholds my own number.)

Weird

"Mobiles Direct is affiliated to e2save.com "

"Affiliated," now that's a vague word, isn't it?

Interesting that they show company details for The Carphone Warehouse Limited but not for themselves.

Get your phone registered with TPS, then you can make an official complaint if you receive an unsolicited call. With a bit of luck they will be fined. http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/
" It is a legal requirement that all organisations (including charities, voluntary organisations and political parties) do not make such calls to numbers registered on the TPS unless they have your consent to do so. "
