Taken this morning, I'm told a spanner had been left on one of the busbars. The singles are 240mm and apparently protected by a 1250A device!!

The flash damage extended into 2 adjacent enclosures and the guy that energised it amazingly received nothing but a fright and a ringing in his ears!!

And an 'un insulated' spanner at that !!!
I suggest 'Spanner' becomes the culprits new nickname . (That's if he is known, he may have gone into hiding, or deny it)

Reminds me of a time I saw this guy filing up a 20mm hole he had drilled over the bus bar chamber on a very large and very live panel.

Nice one but I hope they recheck their protective device size for 240mm² singles.

Had the same thing happen in work not long ago.

New fella dropped his pliers in the chamber touching 2 phases I believe and knocking a few houses off.

He said he didn't think they were live?????????

Even tho the fuse he had pulled to isolate the meter he was working on was fed from one of the bars.

They're the supply from a massive UPS system to an 'essential' section board. The panel manufacturers are on site next week to repair/replace so I'll probably get a few more pics of the damage!
