Dunno why they went on strike in the first place.. Possibly some sort of misguided worship of one Arthur Scargill (who incidentally did very well out of it)

The miners who went on strike lost months and months of wages.. Ask yourself,,, as president (paid) of the NUM,, How much did AS lose out on in wages ?? Simple answer ,,, Zero. The miners were on strike. Arthur wasn't

Have a look what he's reluctant to give up (even though he's nothing to do with the NUM, now.)

It was just a Bad Hair Day for him - and Maggie

Scargill was said to take no wages when the union was on strike. No doubt he still got his perks and expenses paid. As the union bank accounts were frozen these were no doubt in cash, and no receipts required.

Many miners lived on handouts and were too stupid to realise they were being used and their loyalty should have been to their family and not the union.

Police loved it. Massive overtime payments and carte blanche to ignore human rights.

Funny old days, not so long ago either. Probably heading the way of massive industrial unrest again when the economy really tanks.

Faked an injury and demanded he be admitted to hospital for no medical reason so he could have a press conference on the ward.
