Hi,

I'm having major problems trying to get my pilot light back on.

Our hot water wasn't working, so I decided to turn the boiler on and off again, with the hope of bringing it back to life.

When it came to turning the pilot light back on, I can't relight it.
The ignition is lighting, so I'm guessing there is a problem with the gas flow.
Can anybody help??

The bolier is an ideal elan 2.

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the response.
I'm presuming RGI means registered gas installer?

I would imagine your rgi would be looking to change the thermocouple.

I would make sure you got gas to other appliances before anything else.

Excuse my complete ignorance on this, but what would be the expected cost if it was a thermocouple?

Going back to basics how are you attempting to light the pilot exactly and have you done it yourself before?

I have done it once or twice before.
I am turning the gas control knob to "on" before depressing the button and pressing the ignition button several times. Just tried it again with no luck :(

Are you gettign spark?
Are you getting pilot flame?
Is pilot lighting but failing to establish/hold?
Does pilot hold but then drop out when main burner fires or shortly after.

How did you turn boiler off. wander if your overheat stat has tripped if you've knocked the power to the pump off when hot? may have thermocouple interupter
