I am going to plaster a large ceiling in my kitchen dinner. I want to do it in two stages. I don't want to use a stop bead!
Can anyone advice me on the best way to get over the join in the 2 stages showing when finished. Will I be able to trowel the join enough so that it does not show when dry? I am a beginner but have plastered 4 of the rooms in my house with good results. The kitchen/dinner ceiling is just too big (24' x 18')

any hints and tips appreciated

Thanks again Noseall,

I have read the link. One question..

How do you stagger the layers. I was going to use a stop bead, reverse it and plaster up to this. However I was not thinking of staggering the layers.

you should always apply a minimum of two layers of skim.

so, instead of finishing both layers at the same point - stagger the layers to form a 'step'.
