plugtop?

BAS was being his usual obnoxious self, and has spat his dummy out becuase he didn't get his own way.

Nothing worth worrying about.

The point I was trying to make was that this:
Although there will be people on here who pull the phrase apart, "plugtop" is a common term in some parts of the country which refers to a "plug".
is utter nonsense - the fact that a term is in common use does not mean that it is correct.

Ricicle was making an observation, not stating that the term is correct.
Not the same thing at all...

Strange that some posters on this forum object to the terms "plugtop", "plug socket", and so on, but don't seem to criticise the use of "fusebox" to describe a domestic consumer unit, or "trip switch" instead of MCB or RCD.
I don't like the word plugtop, but at least I know what is meant, whereas "fusebox" leads me to assume it has fuses in it.
My blood pressure rises whenever I read a post from someone who has 'reset the trip switch in his fusebox'.

It reads as if he is saying that the use of the term should not be criticised because it is in common use.
