Pointing for dummies

Please can anyone help me? I have numerous small holes in the brick and mortar of my house that I want to fill in. There is also a large gap where mortar has come out between my house and extension. Is there some sort of mastic, ready to use and doesn't require mixing, that I can just use a bit at a time easily? Most of the holes are very tiny and I only want to fill them to stop wasps or mice getting in.

When was your house built? Does it have solid walls?

Solid brick walls and it was built about 40 years ago. Will building mastic do, do you think?
