Polishing garden stone plates with angle grinder?

Good day,

Hope someone can advise me here.

I purchased my first angle grinder today:
Bosch PWS 720-115

My plan was to try and use it for polishing my garden stone plates:

Upon getting it home, I realized that:

1) I can use only a part of polishing disc area, not all 180 degrees due to the nut which holds the disc in place and stands in the way:

2) I have no idea which disc to buy for this kind of stone plates?

This looks much better but how can I use those with my grinder (how to install etc)?

Could you please advise me a certain disc model/type for this kind of work (polishing garden stone plates) which will suit my Bosch grinder?

What he said! Even a cheap jet should make them look like new.

If you have never used a grinder before, watch some Youtube guides or similar - probably the tool with the most potential to harm or maim me in my entire tool shed!

You don't use an angle grinder with the wheel flat like you're saying about, even if you could.
Looks like there's no guard on it. If you do use it fit the guard.
DO NOT use it without the proper guard!
Get yourself the right protective gear too before using it.
As already said they have the potential to do a lot of damage.

Lets forget about my garden stones etc for a second.

Which tool/disc/wheel I should use to polish some granite with my grinder if I would like to? Is this possible at all?

I don't think that's an appropriate tool for any polishing. For a start you need some speed control to polish properly.

I've only ever seen bench grinders with polishing clothes and wheels on.

I don't think an angle grinder is the right tool, although I may be wrong. I've seen granite being polished, and it was done with a multihead random orbital machine with diamond abrasives and a constant water flow.

Incidentally without wanting to harp on about it, don't try fitting or using any of those wheels you have pictured there with an angle grinder. They are the wrong type.
Use only wheels made for angle grinders, the correct size, and speed rating. They should be dated for expiry. I personally won't use ones that aren't still in date. There's an awful lot of energy in a rotating wheel. You really don't want one to burst!

you can get a diamond surface grinding disc but would probably cost you more than you paid for the angle grinder ( should have bought a pro tool not a diy one anyway )

What people have said. You don't use an angle grinder for that. Also, that disc in your picture is a grinding disc, for grinding metal. Never use a grinder without the guard and handle attached. Never use an angle grinder while wearing gloves or long sleeves. An angle grinder is an extremely dangerous piece of kit and should be treated with the utmost respect.

If you haven't used a grinder, and you don't have a use for the grinder, send the bl00dy thing back before you hurt yourself, and buy a pressure washer.

The stone facility I'm working in at the moment use angle grinders. Lots of them. And without guards.
A lot of the grinding/polishing kit in that link is for direct use on angle grinders.
And ones with M14 mounting thread. You could polish those slabs up to a nice glass finish if you wanted. Though mebbe be slippy.

Have a 100mm diamond cup wheel for my own grinder.

Power washers can be dangerous also. Seen a guy whip lash his arm with one.
Mebbe the OP should just stay indoors wrapped in cotton wool and be safe.

Their probably concrete anyrode.

They're probably doing it for a living. But should still be using the guards.

Yes, obviously the OP's slabs are concrete.

Due respect to the OP, we all have tools that we're more familiar with than others. I'm just concerned when someone wants to use an angle grinder flat, with a grinding disc and no guard, to polish a concrete flagstone.

I have a marcrist hf 850 grinding head i use for grinding and lightly polishing concrete.

As other have mentioned though angle grinders are very dangerous and care must be taken with PPE etc. The majority of this sort of work is done with specialist polishing machines which have a much slower and variable speed compared to a grinder.
