Hi all

we have this wall in our house which seems to be covered in a polystyrene foam.

Any idea why it would have been added? Seems to have been picked apart for some time and seems very easy to remove, but no signs of damp so wonder why it would have been added?! Insulation or to cover cracks?

Do you reckon it’s just polystyrene and nothing like asbestos?

Thanks

Just someone's attempt at eliminating a cold spot, I guess.....maybe some mould was inclined to gather there.
No reason to use asbestos in that area, but a closer up shot could help here.

My dad used thin polystyrene on his hall wall, (gable end), as it was a very cold wall and caused mould on coats hanging behind the door.
Only problem was each time he decorated he had to replace it.
