Advice needed please. I have recently fitted a new m/v switch, due to the inconsistant working of the main burner. This was fitted about a fortnight ago and had been working ok until today. I noticed the room temp dropping, checked the boiler only to find that it hadn't relit. On trying to relight, the usual 2 clicks which lights the pilot ocurred, but the gas valve wouldn't click open. I assume that this was due to the pilot not working by not heating the switch probe etc. When working normally, there are about 7/8 seconds between the first two clicks then after 50ish seconds, another click and the boiler fires up., but as it is now there are about two secs between the first clicks, then nothing. have peered through the sight glass after the initial 2 clicks but cannot see any flame. The boiler is about 20 years old and was installed by me. I have checked my work re the m/v switch & that seems to be ok.
Any suggestions please.
Thanks,
Mike.

A good proportion of these are in a dangerous condition by now. I understand that you installed the thing, as I did mine all those years ago clutching a magazine article for guidance, but have to recommend that without test kit and knowledge you don't go in there.

Having a carbon monoxide meter doing its nuts by the side of one of these which one is told is "working fine", is a sobering experience.
