Potterton EP2001 To a hive smart thermostat (CH/HW)

Hi all, I’ve been scrolling around the web for while trying to find answers or someone with a similar set up but there just isn’t any, I’m looking to upgrade to a hive but want to be sure it can be wired up to my existing system, as you can see as with most potterton EP2001 (from what I’ve found) there is the link in the 5 but mine has a extra cable going to it? Could anyone explain what the 3/4/5 connections are controlling please, I have a standard boiler with a hot water cylinder and if you could tell me if I have a gravity (I have a cold water tank in attic and F&E tank) or pump system from how the controller is set up or from the picture below ( I think it’s a s plan?)

Any advice/ knowledge would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

You have an s plan fully pumped system. 3 is hot water on and 4 is heating on, 5 is linked to Live. The additional Live could be the boilers power, but all you need to do is transfer the same wires over to the Hive dual channel minus the L link and N link and where the 2 neutrals are put those into the N of Hive.

The Potterton EP2001 is a programmer, and hive is a programmable thermostat. So somewhere there is likely also a thermostat. Hive can replace the programmer, Hive is not a single product, it is all too easy to make incorrect statements, for example I have stated many times Hive will not work with OpenTherm, today looking at wiring diagrams I find I was wrong (Model OTR1).

You have one extra terminal to what is found on the standard backplate. And since in your case 5 is linked to line, it does not matter. Simple leave the link out. and

are the same except you don't need terminal 5, if you can't wire up that, then you simply should not be doing the job. Change marked in red

there will likely be a thermostat somewhere, but set that to maximum and it should all work.
